After some tangy salsa (music) w/Board member sitting in, doing his extra-terrestrial santana kinda thang, the dentures brought us to the beach and stole on of our kids (Byron), now it’s the dentures plus the braces! now the kids are taking over…I don’t know, how does surfmasters sound?

Dylan Swift – 11:12
Well, I just went Christmas shopping. I’ve done I’ve come to do, I’ve accomplished what I needed to accomplish. It’s been a long morning. I bopped, I dropped, and now it’s time for me to stop. So this surf band is jamming out. We played some minor tunes, we made some major leaps, bounds and giant steps in our playing. I’ve got a lot to learn. Most of all we have friendship. I hope happily participate in this marathon again, anything to support an organization which unites what the musicians in the community. Thanks again, but I’ve got family from out of town showing up any minute, so long; jazz on.

Scott Brown 11:30 am Tuesday
Just looking at Bruce and Mckinley makes me want to go back to bed. Go JAZZMASTERS!

chris lopez- 11:49
man…. I just got finished playing with the dentures + braces. ‘twas awesome. Didn’t know allot of the tunes, but since when have I let that stop me??? never as amatter of fact. bt man was it great for me to get my blues riffs out there even in some quasi difficult keys. anyway…. My neck hurts, so does my throat. and when I get home…. I’m taking a nap.

Emilie Lygren 11:54
Had to leave for the dentist… fun stuff. Alex and Bruce are smokin’ but they got the sleepies in their eyes…I wonder how much longer they’ll hold up. peace out

scott brown’s band just took over w/kenny stahl, steve ezzo, andy weis and the irrepressible noah on fiddle, more food showed up, I think I’ll go with the conventional wisdom and check to see if my eyelids are a leakin’ …never made it, food and events conspired. the band burned kids and pros…the jazzmasters way…I’m so proud of the kids and gratified by the support of the musicians, parents and locals who are hangin…wow! now, the Magic 63 swing band is gonna take it from here.

Thank you Bruce, Mike and all who are involved with this Very worthwhile program.
When I was asked to do this I couldn’t say “yes” fast enough. It would be good if ALL towns and cities in the USA and abroad would adopt similar programs as JazzMasters. The dream of so many children worldwide can finally be realized with Jazz Masters. The result (besides the obvious future great musicians who otherwise would never be) is the self esteem and tools to work as part of a team. GREAT music is almost as essential as air, food and water. This program realizes that the future of music is in the hands of the younger generation and wishes to get this generation off to the best possible start. THAT is why I am honored to take part in this event. I hope that I am lucky enough to get asked to do this again or anything else where I can be of help. Thanks Bruce, you’re a REAL class act…both on and off the stage.

I returned with my friend alex, we were obviously too lazy to stay. welcome back matt and alex! they were of course immediately put to work, they’re playing a train right now. 63ers are outta here: Bob Phillips, Lee Durley, Dennis Murphy and Jim Vanderzwaan…thanks a million guys! the kids are gonna take this flag to the finish. we do have a visit from a hot club group, but other than that, I think we’ll let the kids go in glory…heck, they did the major lifting here…and all are sounding appreciably better…hope they practice over the holiday. unbelievably, herbie is still awake…how many tunes so far, herbie? “140” he says, cheerfully. block 4 is coming to a close, plenty of supplies to hold us over.

chris lopez-2:41
man… this is the fourth time we have played blue bossa…. I think it shall be nominated the most overused song of the whole marathon…. I hope more bands come on…. I want to jam more… It’d be cool if someone came

matt hannas-2:42
gee I actually played without messing everbody up alex keeps making fun of me playing I think I’m doing fine.

Bruce Forman
well you just can’t please everybody…I mean, chris has jammed with just about every player in Monterey county and he’s complaining for more, normally coverage of that many players would take a month of good gigs, I hope jazzmasters isn’t spoiling peeps. anyway, we swing intro the last block…wahoo! maybe miles davis will come in to play with chris…one never knows…see you on the next page.
