act III, Scene I…cold duck time—musically that is. hey guys…upbeats, remember? mikey’s back with more water, michael gaines with fresh fruit, playing is starting to regroup after a long extended spacey jam and solos section turning the corner…my arm feels real good, I think I can hep this here bawl club.

Zach:
Hey there, Zach here. I’m actually just leaving (cuz I’m a weenie), but the Bop-Til-You-Drop has been a hoot. Bruce and I just finished discussing the typical progression from “decent jazz” to attempts at new instruments to Grateful Dead-style psychedelic jams on Red Clay to Solo things, then back to the 5 AM version of “decent jazz”. All in all, this has been the best “Bop” yet, and an absolute musical . . . something. I’ll leave it at that. As Noah would say, “Peace.”

The Bounce Along Swing Trio just started…so cheery for this hour of the am…yikes! Jack Field plays rhythm guitar, he’ll be here later with his own band, his axe is signed by Birelli Lagrene, if you need to ask don’t worry about it…I’ll get back to you. Bari plays and sings, she’s a JazzMaster alumnus…doing all right from the sounds of it. Michael on the bass, man, a true supporter of the cause, and swingin bassman too. Noah rounded out the emsemb…

Gabe:
halfway there. Really fun.

Bruce Forman
hate to tell gabe that his math is off, not halfway until an hour from now, but hey, who’s countin? got in some django-licks with the swing band, but considering my latent cowboy tendencies I’d call it: djangles. OK, forgive me, tis early. got some returnees, I think the recidivism here might be kind of high…let’s hope so!

Michael G
Showed up at O dark thirty with apples and bananas, by Amanda’s request for healthy cuisine, don’t tell her I brought the bear claws. Had a sweet time playing Django and Bari tunes for the kids. Jack Fields joined us, a real gypsy swing pro, thanks Jack. Noah as usual was a blast to play with. He says “everything I know about jazz Bruce taught me”. This program has never fail to amaze me. The proof is in the kids. Next year I will take the day off so I can stay here all night.

Michael G? Where have you been? We never slept. We laid around, watched some instructional videos, giggled. I felt so sick and all my limbs feel asleep. We lingered upstairs to find daylight and a latin classical session. I’m so happy, exhausted yet newly refreshed, it’s as if I’ve been reborn, yet I’m still in a cloudy type haze, but happy to be alive. Oh man I still gotta buy Christmas presents. This woman has a beautiful voice. yo corizon tu

Chris Lopez: 7:49
man… I fell asleep…. damn… oh well… it’s still fun. but look bruce is fast asleep hahaha like a little baby haha. man…. this has been a pretty fun marathon so far… music session has not stopped though. almost 12 hours left. well time to move on… Peace.

Jacob Braccio- 8:07
the “young folk” who were here all night are all out of steam but luckily reinforcements have arrived, and they brought food. there is an acoustic guitar circle right now and its pretty sweet, maybe I’ll wake up enough to jump in soon but there’s still plenty of time.

Lauren Aylott- 8:17
Well this is pretty fun so far but we still have a long way to go. I think I am going to attempt to play drums again but only if dale plays keyboard instead of sleep forever. well so long bye bye.

Bruce Forman
we passed 100 tunes—herbie has been keeping track. got in a few winks, feel pretty good all in all. way past the point of no-return. swingin on!!!!!!!!!! a lovely acoustic Spanish set greeted the sunrise as I managed to doze off into halcyon reverie for a half hour or so…wahoo! then a set of standards with the kids, herbie is officially the last one without sleep, and in fact he was the only last time too, a true iron man, the Lou Gehrig of JazzMasters Workshop. The Dentures-a mature surf-group- from San Luis Obispo showed up and are going to greet us with a wet and wile Pacific Ocean style set…surf’s yup as we head into Block 4…can smell the end from here…or is that Michael’s socks?
