Bruce Forman:
Into block 2, must admit, a bit of the manic energy has rubbed off…or out as the case might be. anyway, we still have a number of kids who look like they might pull us through the night, I hope so.

Michael Weissman- 12:18 AM:
Bonjour! Everyone is flying to the moon right now and there are a lot less people here than started. I just found out that Herbie has perfect pitch, he said its relative perfect pitch… I don’t know. We’ve got about another 19 hours to go… don’t fall asleep yet.

Bruce Forman
yeah, he’s got a relative with perfect pitch! Sweet Georgia Brown, first train wreck…merely a bitonal half-step kinda thing, might’ve been purposeful…naw, I think not!

Gabe de Vera
We are finally doing a Christmas song at 12:45. White Christmas.

Susan Brown 12:47 a.m.
What a great group of musicians! Glad to be here documenting this happening with digital pics. “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town!” sung by Janet…

Dylan Swift:
We’ve continued the vocal Christmas renditions. It’s 5 till 1:00. Conversation fills the room as the aptly equipped musicians argu.. uh discuss what song to perform next. denis begins a near drunken bassline as kirk takes to the keys. I’m trying to hold out my upshot till 1. The line is so laid back, and kirk makes his monumental entrance. oh, bing Crosby has emerged from the crypt to salute these gentlemen for their vibrations are oh so soothing. Have yourself a merry little Christmas. What happened to those days of merry little Christmases, long before the days of Xboxes and ipod nanos, for sures. It’s 12:59, begin the upshot. 1 down, 2 to go. jazz on children, sleep peacefully, sugar plumbs, candy canes, chocolate bunnies and all. ho ho ho! this caffeine stuff really works. song over.

Spencer Aiello:
I was thinking….why does music work? How would it work? It is the most improbable entity known to man. There is an infinity of sound within a musical world, there is no end, yet it is confined into a space that is open to many levels of communication where the thought of your soundless mind expresses an infinite beauty that transcends thru space and time and thru the soul of evry man. However why does it work? The same way there is no end to what we can see in every direction. Perhaps there is a way to understand what is happening in the mind of a person. Music embodies emotion, and feeling, It gives one the sense of being alive maybe the only time they eer will. Maybe what im trying to say is that music cannot be described it is a boundless soul, but it can be channeled thru the various musical devfices that desxribe the individual ways we can interpret the sounds we hear…maybe im just crazy… that was an attempt at stream of conciousness writing =P super cool! 1:13

Jacob Braccio-1:14
As the Christmas sons keep coming I have but one question: Why aren’t there any good Hannukah songs? But there is hope maybe Noah knows one but the odds aren’t good. Oooh we have how-down music now…sweet.

Dylan Aiello- 1:30
Wooooo!

Noah Freedman 1:32 a.m.
There’s 23 people here! It’s all good, and I’m having a great time.

Susan Brown 1:33 a.m.
“Agua Beber” is playing. Got lots of good pics of Michael Weissman for his mom Tina.
Herb is fastidiously keeping track of every song played, this is number 44. Hank is helping hold the floor down, tapping his foot wildly to the beat…he has rhythm, but can he play???

JR de Vera 1:50 am
The teens are gettin down to some great hard bebop. The Youth Center is totally happening like an old nite club ala Birdland. And Gabe is still awake!

Bruce Forman
now…guess what? Giant Steps, man I never figured on this, now ther’s some serious struggling, but honorable. more right notes than wrong, which is better than I remember than some ny jams of my youth, at later hours than this though, I think i’ll grab a chunk if you don’t mind.

Max Pete 2 :10 am
Now it is really early and I am tierd but never tierd enough to stop playin jazz and blues on a crazy person would fall asleep listening and playing the blues cough Jacob cough well the main jazzmaster jaw signing off telling you learn how to play your blues and jazz. JJ
P.S. I am having a great time here And so is every one else I think or at least the awoken ones.

Dylan Swift 2:20
Well I just got schooled in Giant Steps and my head hurts, but it’s a valuable lesson. I had to walk out midway through Blues For Alice to get my head to quit spinning I’m going to return once Bruce’s ripping piano solo is over. Most are asleep now, we’ve reached the big stretch, insomniac theory school.

Bruce Forman
well, from giant steps to heart & soul—through body & soul, some reprogramming needed here. kinda giddy, but can’t really blame em, alot of feeling, I can appreciate that. max claims to have started heart & soul, but wait a sec and he’ll say that he wrote it. it’s headed into the sub-saharan hours of the eve, I hope the sugar holds cause I can see a time when these youngsters tell me I’m on my own. of all the ideas I’ve ever had, this is surely one of them. they got a Motown blues going now, big bari sax bolstering up the late evening hour. its about a quarter to three and no one in the joint except you and me and the no-doz orchestra.

Max Pete 3:00 am
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was the leader for like 4 minutes and I enjoyed having power muhahahahahahahaha. We did this song I don’t know if it had a name or not well I named it crispy crème and yes it was delious super awesome and noah tried to rap but lets face it he isn’t that good in that department of music but he is my brotha so I will teach him my ways, anyways I am not tierd any more I had like 4 sips of this energy drink and they really work really so now I am listening to go old blues like the good old days jazz master jew signing off peace 1 love peace up a town down. P.S. My pinano solo was well how can I say this the best most awsomeist thing you could hear in a long time.

Dylan Swift 3:15
As if I haven’t written enough. We’re playing red clay, I must return, but not before consuming upshot numero dos. bottoms upshot, feel free to play along at home.

chris lopez-3:26
currently eating cheetos… wishin I had an energy drink it’s almost to that point of, I’m not gonna go to sleep anyway I can’t place a name on the song that the group… nope… benie just chimed in with all blues… great job… I wish we had milk… and some way to keep it cold I want the big boys to come back it was fun then…
we were able to take breaks… but now… we can’t because there are currently like 13 or so people here man…
it’s rough well… must go rest my feet peace out

Lauren Aylott-3:42
Well this is my first jazzmasters and it is pretty sweet there is a lot of good music and a lot of fun I just currently woke up from a good nap it was pretty sweet well right now max is dancing wow hot laugh out loud kk bye bye

Alex Govan- 4:09
Holy cow, I’ve made it through the first 9 hours still in one piece. So far its been an exciting and exhilarating experience, that may be due to the mass amounts of energy drinks consumed, and a constant supply of sugar filled delectibles though. This is a new experience for me, playing music all night that is, and one that I will probably never forget. So far it’s been great fun and I know that the fun wont stop until well… until it ends…

Dylan Swift- 4:19 am (THAT’S RIGHT AM!11”)
It’s that time again upshot crew. shake, twist, gone. We’re listening to solos right now. Gabe is the man, a prodigy, look out for this kid I swear. Zach is gonna play some funktopus music right now while spencer and max share the mattress. how could I have been so arrogant to think I could beat mother nature? only zach playing thrash bass (yes give us your best vai fishy faces) over America the beautiful could counter the upshots. oh and Dylan Aiello and I invented vegetable scatting. fin.

Jacob Braccio- 4:30
Herbie played a song with no name that we decided was to pretty to be called “Max”, now Alex is playing Chariots and Dylan had me hit him with a pillow I’m assuming to keep him awake. Needless to say it is not getting boring as the night goes on. Max just made a bad Greenday reference.

Bruce Forman 4:59 am in the morning, redundant, again, deja-revu
well, closing out another block here…so you think you’re a music lover…probably why you ain’t here. the next group of five hours takes us over the hump, got some food and new groups coming…like the cavalry…onward!
